TinyBuild, the studio behind the Hello Neighbor franchise, is set to release a new stealth horror game in a fully new way. Titled “Hello Neighbor VR: Search & Rescue”, the game will feature a group of playable characters, originally from the game “Secret Neighbor”. Players will have the ability to switch between characters, each with unique abilities, in order to solve puzzles throughout the game.
Theodore Peterson, the infamous neighbor, has once again captured your friend Nicky Roth, and it’s up to you to solve a variety of puzzles in order to uncover the mystery and gain access to his basement lair in Hello Neighbor VR Search & Rescue.
The game’s story is set in the town of Raven Brooks, taking place between Act 1 and Act 3 of the original Hello Neighbor game. However, Hello Neighbor VR Search & Rescue will feature an alternate storyline for Act 2, where players will be able to save Nicky.
Hello Neighbor VR Search & Rescue is set to release on May 25th on Meta Quest, PSVR2, and Steam. Interestingly, Steel Wool Studios, known for creating Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach, is also collaborating with TinyBuild on this project.
The hype surrounding Hello Neighbor games often raised players’ expectations, only to result in disappointment. Furthermore, the release of Hello Neighbor 1 didn’t receive positive feedback from players. However, TinyBuild has been working to restore the franchise’s reputation with the positive feedback received from games like Secret Neighbor and the somewhat positive response to Hello Neighbor 2.
While we can’t be sure what to expect from the upcoming Hello Neighbor VR, the trailers and teasers suggest that the game has a lot of promise. This release will be another test for TinyBuild to see if they can continue to rebuild the franchise’s reputation.
